iOS 7 Leak Hints New iPhone With Biometric Fingerprint Sensor

Developers have been keeping a close eye on the iOS 7 beta releases and in iOS 7 beta 4, a folder called ‘BiometricKitUI’ has been spotted. The folder, an iOS developer states, is a clear indication that Apple may pack biometric fingerprint sensor in the upcoming iPhone.

The screenshot of the said folder in iOS 7 has leaked on to the web. An iOS developer, Hamza Sood, has further revealed that the description of the folder further confirms that it is indeed meant to add support for a possible biometric fingerprint sensor. And Apple would do that only if it plans to add such a sensor to the new iPhone.

According to Sood, the exact description of this folder is as follows:

Other sources have confirmed this finding, further citing that the interface which will be used to input the thumbprint impression, is near completion. Quite possibly, this interface will be rolled out as part of iOS 7 when Apple unveiles the next iPhone. The sources have also hinted that for now, Apple will use the thumprint sensor to offer users the ability to lock their handsets. In the near future, we may even see payment solutions based on this biometric technology.
