It’s the day for the iPhone jailbreakers and unlockers. Chronic Dev-Team has released greenpois0n RC5 which jailbreaks your iPhone 4/3GS, iPod touch or iPad on iOS 4.2.1 completely untethered and i already posted the step by step guideline here. However, that tutorial is only suitable for those who do not rely on a software unlock (ultrasn0w) for using their iPhone on an unsupported carrier.
Disclaimer: This procedure is for iPhone 4 ONLY! Make sure your iPhone 4′s current baseband (e.g 1.59.00) is supported by ultrasn0w 1.2.
The steps are as follows:
Step 1: Close iTunes, Skype, Messengers or any other background application.
Step 2: Launch Tiny Umbrella and connect your iPhone 4
Step 3: Hit the Start TSS Server button.
Step 4: Now launch iTunes and restore to iOS 4.2.1 (download here)
Note : do a *Restore* not an *Update*
Step 5: Cross your fingers and wait for iTunes to end up with error 1013. This is perfectly normal and has to do with the baseband not being updated.
Step 6: Simply ‘Kick Device Out of Recovery and that’s it.
