SEGA Launches ‘Crazy Taxi’ Game On iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

As announced by Sega earlier this week, Crazy Taxi has launched on the iTunes App Store. Sega released a short teaser-film on Monday to preview the upcoming release. Crazy Taxi was a huge title on Dreamcast around the year 2000 and was available in those old-fashioned video game outlets for $60.00.

Crazy Taxi on iOS happens to be an exact replica of the Dreamcast title. Sega is offering compatibility with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for an even $4.99. Customers with an iPhone 5 or iPod touch fifth-generation must take note that the 4-inch screen will be letter-boxed until Sega releases a compatibility update.

This Sega-based game involves driving a taxi around town and picking up travelers. There is only one issue, the streets are packed with traffic that must be avoided.

When you first launch Crazy Taxi, you can choose between 3, 5 , or 10 minute game plays in either arcade or original mode. You will also be prompted to choose between touch or tilt controls for your taxi.

Crazy Taxi is a universal iOS game, meaning you can purchase the title once and download it free of charge on another iOS device. If you’re a competitor, Crazy Taxi even incorporates the Game Center leaderboard.
