Soon You Will Be Able to Restore Your iDevice Without iTunes With Update TinyUmbrella

TinyUmbrella developer NotCom has made an announcement over his official blog, that he is working on a new way to restore your iDevice. This upcoming new method doesn’t involve iTunes to restore your iDevice to a selected iOS firmware. All you will need to do is ensure that you have your SHSH blobs saved, and you can restore without iTunes or an internet connection.

Notcom also told through his blog that this feature may take some time to implement, but he will update us through twitter. If you are interested, here is his actual official statement:

I’ve been working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrella that will, among other things, allow you to restore your iDevice without iTunes. With the holiday season and work, this will take me a bit to get working the way I want it. I appreciate your patience and your support. You guys are awesome 🙂 No ETAs yet but I’ll post updates here and on twitter.

While this is an exciting announcement, due to the lack of details we are still not sure how notcom will accomplish this, or what features will be included. It would be great if Notcom could implement a firmware restore, which would preserve your baseband, but as of right now we lack details to say anything like this.

Till then stay with us for the latest update.

Thanks
