Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, knows his electronics well. The sixty-two year old Apple computer whiz has owned his share of Android and iOS products. However, Woz certainly wasn’t impressed by the Cupertino based company’s latest handset – iPhone 5; one he had to get from Australia. He stated that the differences between iOS and Android are minimal, certainly a stunning remark coming from the Apple co-founder himself.
This past Monday, Wozniak hopped on Slashdot to answer questions of the tech society and quickly made it clear that he would answer any question. During the open question-and-answer round, Woz said, “there are more than enough apps and they are generally the same quality on each platform,” when asked about thoughts on iOS & Android.
Many further questions were based-upon Apple’s latest patent wars. If Woz had more say in Apple’s plans then he would create a cross-licensing program with competitors such as Samsung and Motorola, he said. Woz also added, “I would like my iPhone to be the best it could, even if someone else did some of the things first.”
As for desktop and laptop computers, Woz still sees a bright future for these devices. “It’s easier to throw an iPhone out the window than a Macintosh,” he said.
Steve Wozniak isn’t in anyway an ‘Apple fanboy’ or ‘fandroid’, as he tends to use a wide-range of technology. He is known for testing out many popular Android phones, including the Nexus 7 and Galaxy S III. And. it’s great to know an Apple founder was able to offer an interesting in-depth perspective.
