Is There A Sony Chromebook On Its Way?

Alliances in the tech world are forged and re-forged rather quickly, so there is no way to tell when which two tech giants may join forces. Hints have been discerned in a Federal Communications Commission filing that Sony is working on a laptop that tools the Chrome OS. In other words, it may be a VAIO Chromebook on its way.

This has come at heels of Google’s announcement last month that Google is about to roll out newer and faster Chromebook machines. Now, we have hints that Sony may be producing VAIO Chromebooks to be shipped out soon. It may be that Google pretty much meant these when it made the announcement.

There is good proof that these ‘Sony VAIO VCC111 Series’ machines do not use Windows since there is no Windows key on it. Moreover, there are chrome accents on the back which would only be there is the main OS of the notebook was the Chrome OS.

The rest of the specs of this machine from Sony include an 11.6-inch Samsung display, HDMI port, SD card slot, headphone and microphone jacks and two USB 2.0 ports.

The filing also mentions a certain ‘T25 CPU.’ While it is not clear what exactly this refers to, it has been speculated that perhaps Sony is using Nvidia’s Tegra 250 T25 ARM-based processor.
