ASUS Announces PadFone 2, Will Debut In Asia And Europe By This Year

You have probably heard about convertible laptops that can be transformed from a laptop to a tablet and vice versa. But, have you heard about PadFone? It is an original Asus concept that can convert a smartphone into a tablet and vice versa. Yesterday, ASUS officially announced PadFone 2. The Padfone 2 will debut in Asia and Europe later this year.

The ASUS PadFone 2 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz, a 4.7-inch (1280×720, 550 nits) display made with Sharp’s IGZO technology, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with a large f2.4 aperture that can perform in low light and capture video at 60FPS in 720p, an 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, Corning Fit Glass, NFC, 50GB of Asus Web storage and a non-replaceable 2140mAh battery.

According to the ASUS press release, “PadFone 2 will be launched before the end of 2012 in Europe (Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden) and Asia (Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, U.A.E). Availability in other countries will be announced at a later date.”

The price of non-contract version of Padfone 2 will be around $650, and the PadFone Station will cost around $200.
