HTC Selling One S With Snapdragon S3 In Asia-Pacific And European Markets

Around a couple of weeks ago, we first heard about a slightly modified version of the popular HTC One S making its way to Taiwan. HTC One S was being sold in Taiwan with Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor. The Snapdragon S3 based Taiwanese version is different from the version distributed in USA. And, HTC has confirmed now that it is using the lower-powered Snapdragon S3 chipset in HTC One S not only in Taiwan but in the Asia-Pacific region and in some European markets.

The American, British, Japanese, Korean, French and German people have been enjoying the HTC One S with the high-performance thrills of a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. People became a little bit confused when they heard that slightly modified version of HTC One S would be outfitted with an older Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor. Later the company confirmed that they are really using the Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor but only for some Asia-Pacific and European markets.

Be noted, if the phone is labeled ‘1.7GHz’, it means it is a Snapdragon S3 running device, but if it is labeled ‘1.5GHz’, then it has Snapdragon S4 in the chassis. Until Qualcomm is able to catch up to the demand for their dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, consumers in Asia and Europe are advised to read the proverbial label.
