In the recent past, Huawei has released some really impressive smartphones. Many of these came with availability in limited regions which was a disappointment for some. Now, the company is joining the Windows Phone 8 bandwagon with the new Ascend W1 that it has unveiled during CES 2013.
Ascend W1 is a 4-inch smartphone packing an IPS LCD 480 x 800 touchscreen. It is 10.15 mm thin and is juiced up with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1.2GHz chip. The phone has squared edges around its profile which takes away a bit of elegance but certainly lends it an air of ruggedness. Nonetheless, packing a 1950mAH battery that can give 19.6 days of standby time, Ascend W1 makes for a fairly good, and hopefully affordable, Windows Phone 8 handset.
This is the first ever Windows Phone 8 phone from Huawei, which means that the company is trying to catch up with the likes of HTC and Nokia who are way ahead in the game.
It will be available in red, blue, black and white colors and will initially be launched in China and Russia. This will be followed by its launch in U.S., Europe and other regions. Pricing details are also unavailable as of yet.

Given what Yu says about Ascend W1, we are surely hoping to find a reasonable price tag on the phone that will make it a fine contender in the Windows Phone 8 market.
