MagicOn Ayane Handset Can Project 42-Inch Images

Many companies have been attempting to offer the functionality of a projector within a smartphone. Conplex International has now gone hard-core on the notion by offering MagicOn Ayane, a projector phone.

MagicOn Ayane

Ayane is essentially a mix between a smartphone and a projector. It packs decent specs and is able to project images without any qualms. A quick rundown on the details of the device is below.

Specifications:
Ayane packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor together with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage space. The storage space can be expanded further with a microSD card. The display of the handset is a 125.5 x 65 x 13 mm and it packs a 5 megapixel camera. The smartphone runs Android 4.2 and its defining feature is the pico projector appended to its top.

The pico projector has been manufactured by Texas Instruments and packs the company’s Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology. It has a resolution of 480 x 640 and is able to project a vivid 42-inch image on any flat surface. It turns out an intensity of 35 lumens and is rather good for a projector included within a smartphone.

MagicOn Ayane costs $499 which may sound much for the modest specs it packs. But then, the fact that it includes a projector makes it something more than just a smartphone. Conplex has made available a tripod and a Bluetooth gaming pad as the optional accessories which can be purchased to enhance the Ayane experience. It remains to be seen how popular this ‘experience’ turns out to be for the smartphone users out there.
