Nokia Released 3D-Printing Kit For Lumia 820 Cases

Many mobile phone users love to customize their phones with accessories. Keeping that trend in mind, for the first time mobile phone maker Nokia has made and released a 3D-printing kit that will let owners use 3D printers to make their own cases for Lumia 820 phones.

Nokia Lumia 820

The Nokia Lumia 820, unveiled in September 2012, comes with various colorful casing. If users don’t like the color of casing, they can change it by buying a casing with their preferred color. But if users prefer to make their own phone casing, they can simply do that with the help of Nokia’s 3D printing Development Kit (3DK).

John Kneeland, a Nokia community and developer marketing manager, said in a blog post, “Nokia’s 3D printing community project is a simple concept with exciting potential. We are going to release 3D templates, case specs, recommended materials and best practices — everything someone versed in 3D printing needs to print their own custom Lumia 820 case. We refer to these files and documents collectively as a 3D-printing Development Kit, or 3DK for short.”

No doubt, 3DK can open up a new world of gadget possibilities. To get 3DK, visit developer.nokia.com and download the files.
