Sony Xperia Sola Comes With Finger-Free Navigation And NFC Support

The latest addition to Sony’s Xperia NXT series is Xperia Sola. The Android devices in this line-up from Sony have been fairly cool but they have been far from being top-of-the-range. In fact, the latest addition, Sony Xperia Sola, also falls well short of that line. For instance, it doesn’t run Android ICS nor does it have a very powerful processor. However, it does have finger-free navigation and NFC support.

Well, first a quick glance at the other mediocre features of the devices. It runs Android Gingerbread OS. That may feel stone-age like to those who have grown a habit of using Ice Cream Sandwich but it won’t be that bad for someone who intends to use an Android smartphone for the first time. Moreover, it comes with 1GHz-dual core CPU which, again, puts it at a mid-range device, at least as far as the specs are concerned. Other specs include a 3.7-inch screen, 5-megapixel camera and 3D surround-sound processing.

But don’t think the device has absolutely nothing to offer. It has as slick design and styling, for one, something which Sony is pretty good at. Next, the device comes with a few cookies which are being offered by very few other devices. For instance, it features finger-free navigation. According to Sony, due to this feature, you can easily scroll through website and other documents by simply hovering your finger over the display and not having the need to touch it!

The device also features NFC support. It comes with ‘SmartTags’ which can accomplish more or less all the contemporary NFC functions such as the ability to pair very fast with other NFC devices, one-tap networking setup and others. Xperia Sola is expected to his the shelves globally by the second quarter this year. But for US users, it may be later still.
