Sony introduced to the market the company’s first USB 3.0 flash drive codenamed Micro Vault Mach Superspeed. The Japanese hardware manufacturer announced that the new flash drives have writing speeds of up to 120MB/s and 90MB/s. The Micro Vault Mach Superspeed USB 3.0 flash drive will be available in four capacity versions: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and it will have an robust aluminum case.
The Micro Vault’s design concept allows a retractable connector to keep the small sleek appearance, and also keeps it from getting damaged. The small flash drive weights 14 grams and measures 19.7 x 9.7 x 69.4mm. According to the Sony’s official statement “brand-new Micro Vault Mach is the first family of flash memory drives from Sony with Superspeed USB 3.0 technology for blazing performance that won’t slow you down.”
That could imply that more implementations of this technology will follow sometimes soon. The new Sony’s flash drives have support for both major operating systems, Windows and Mac OS X. Other software are available for download, such as File Rescue (allowing the recovery of files that had been deleted by mistake) and X-Pict Story (a easy to use tool that allows users to make presentation from photos stored on the drive). For the time being, Sony hasn’t announced the price tags.
