A New Nexus 7 Is Coming Soon

It has been a while since Google launched Nexus 7, a slate that went on to garner significant popularity in the mini-tablet arena. It’s been a year since the launch of original Nexus 7 and now, a report from FCC suggests that Google is gearing up for a new Nexus 7 model.

Nexus 7

There is, of course, no official word from Google as to whether or not it may launch a new Nexus 7 model any time soon. But hints from FCC’s reports do suggest so. In a recent certification, FCC gave the green signal to an Asus tablet which apparently carries a Nexus branding.

According to the details of the FCC report, this 7-incher from Asus packs a Qualcomm APQ-8064 chip, both front and rear cameras as well as support for Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity.

If this report is to be believed and if indeed this Asus slate turns out to be the next model of Nexus 7, it would mean that Google is ramping up the hardware under the hood by ditching the Nvidia chip for a more powerful Qualcomm processor. It must be noted here that the original Nexus 7, too, is a collaboration between Asus and Google.

Given the more powerful Qualcomm chip, it is also expected that this Nexus slate will feature a higher-resolution display. If you are currently planning on buying a Nexus 7, it would be a poor decision to do so. From the looks of it, the next Nexus 7 is coming soon and given Google’s pricing policy, it wouldn’t be too expensive.
