BlackBerry 4G PlayBook Coming This Summer Under Sprint Network

RIM has unveiled plans for an updated version of its new touchscreen tablet capable of accessing 4G cellular networks.Now they have a 4G version so the new tablet has named as BlackBerry 4G PlayBook.The BlackBerry 4G PlayBook, as it’s being called here, is heading to Sprint this summer.RIM also announced a deal with American telecom carrier Sprint to create the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook, the first RIM tablet capable of accessing wide area wireless networks.

The version of the PlayBook that RIM is showcasing at CES can connect to the Internet via a WiFi connection. Users can also access the Internet via cellular networks by tethering the PlayBook to their BlackBerry smartphone via a Bluetooth connection.

By announcing plans for a tablet capable of accessing cellular networks, RIM is aiming to further close the gap between the PlayBook and rival Apple Inc.’s iPads.

Apple currently offers iPads that feature WiFi and 3G connections, in addition to WiFi-only models.

RIM has not announced a Canadian carrier partner for the 4G PlayBook.

RIM has not announced pricing details for either the BlackBerry PlayBook nor the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook.
