Microsoft Reduces Price Of Surface RT Tablets Up To 30 Percent

It seems like Microsoft has determined to sell its Surface RT tablets to the users by hook or by crook. Based on different models, lately Microsoft has cut the price of four versions of these tablets, up to 30 percent.

Now Microsoft is selling the 32GB model Surface RT tablet for $349 (it was $499) and the 64GB model for $499. The move comes in as Microsoft is building a channel partner program for both Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets. You can now directly buy the Surface RT Tablets with the reduced price from MicrosoftStore.

Recently Microsoft said it is working on a new Surface Pro featuring an Intel Haswell processor and a version of the Surface RT running on Qualcomm’s (QCOM) Snapdragon chip. According to Qualcomm, it’s Snapdragon 800 processors will have the support for Windows RT 8.1.

On the other hand, few weeks ago Microsoft offered the Surface RTs (without keyboard) at $199 for schools and universities. Microsoft gave away 10,000 Surface RT units to teachers who attended the International Society for Technology Education convention in San Antonio last month for promotion.

If they said they made it more useful by providing the originally promised windows software support, I’d buy it at full price.

The way it is, they’d have to drop it to the price of a walkman, cause that’s the only use I’d have for it when running on WART
