[Infographic] The Trend Of E-Reading

E-reading, on e-readers, has been an increasingly popular activity all over the world and specifically in U.S. With paper version of books becoming lesser and lesser popular, digital versions have gained traction and e-readers are very well suited to read these digital versions. An infographic now details the various trends found in the world of e-reading.

According to this infographic, such users who own an e-reader in U.S. read more books on average than such users who don’t. On average, according to a Pew study, such readers who read from paper books read 15 books a year while those who own an e-reader top this number by 24 books a year.

Moreover, Amazon’s Kindle Fire is the best selling e-reader, followed by Barnes & Noble’s Nook and finally, Sony’s eBook reader. This is by no means a measure of how successful these devices in the tablet market where iPad is the dominant player with its 68% share whereas Kindle Fire has a mere 4%.

In the e-reading arena, though, Kindle series has been a successful one and is preferred by such users who want an e-reader and not a tablet. So far, Amazon has been releasing non-color Kindle e-reader devices which have been used exclusively for e-reading. However, Kindle Fire changed this with its color display, enabling users to download and view a lot of other content besides e-books.

According to the infographic, the top reasons why people don’t go for an e-reader is that they don’t need or want one, which is probably because their first priority is a tablet.
