You Can Now Donate For Philippine Typhoon Relief Via iTunes Store

Apple has initiated an online campaign to help gather funds for the relief of Philippine typhoon victims. The company has set up a new page where it provides the details of the campaign. You can then proceed to donate between $5 and $200 for the relief effort with the help of your iTunes Store account.

iTunes Store Philippine typhoon relief

Apple’s iTunes Store has a huge user base. The online portal has some 500 million accounts. This is precisely why Apple has launched a number of similar charity campaigns via iTunes Store in the past. These campaigns were wildly successful thanks to the response of iTunes Store users.

In the case of Philippine Typhoon relief too, Apple promises that whatever amount you submit as a donation for the cause, the company will hand it in full to the American Red Cross. In other words, your donations would go 100% to the relief organization, without Apple taking the tiniest share.

You can access the donation page both through the Apple.com main page or simply via the desktop iTunes Store. Once you are there, you have the option for submitting donations of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200. As acknowledgement for your donation, you will receive an iTunes Store confirming it. Any amount of money you choose to donate will be deducted from your credit card attached to the iTunes Store account. In other words, you can’t use iTunes Store credit to make the donation.

Donors won’t be eligible for any receipt or acknowledgment from the American Red Cross since Apple won’t be passing the personal details of its donors to the organization.
