Facebook IPO Filing: Who Are Largest Shareholders? Zuckerberg Owns 28 Percent

Facebook has finally filed for IPO after a lot of anticipation and has raised $2.4 billion in funding. It is hoping that it will be able to garner $5 billion through public offering. Analysts are expecting that when Facebook is finally approved to go public, it’s valuation can be as much as $100 billion! This puts everyone who has even a fraction of a percent of shares as a millionaire. So who are the top shareholders in Facebook? Let’s see.


As per the registration document provided by Facebook for IPO filing, first off, naturally, Mark Zuckerberg leads the rank by owning 28 percent shares of Facebook. A $100 billion valuation of Facebook will immediately makes him a man with $28 billion! Second to Mark are Accel, who invested in 2005, and Accel Partner Jim  Breyer who owns about 11.4 percent of Facebook. The co-founder of Facebook, Dustin Moskovitz owns 7.6 percent of the company, so he’s pretty good off too by pocketing $7.6 once the company goes public.

Facebook first investor was Peter Thiel. He owns 2.5 percent of the company. COO of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg has about 1,899,986 shares. VP of engineering Mike Schroepfr owns 2,101,870 shares of the company. Both these own less than a percent of the company. Other notable investors in Facebook include Microsoft, Elevation Partners, La-Ka Shing, Founders Fund, Goldman Sachs, Reif Hoffman and Meritech. However, all these notable investors do not own more than 5 percent of the company’s shares.
