Twitter, Facebook And MySpace Join Forces Against Google Search

Ever since Google Search plus Your World launched, a lot of voices were raised against it. More importantly those coming from the Twitter quarters. Summarizing all the posts and the debates, the bottom line is that Google Search plus Your World is bad for everybody. That includes you, organizations, publishers and everyone you could ever think of.

And there’s a point to all the discussions. While Google is placing on the top shelves Google+ pages, all the other social network including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are missing out. And they are missing on a lot of user activity. And you are too. Some engineers from the sites mentioned above had enough of Google+’s crystal tower and made up a plan. The result is called the Focus on User website, where after installing a bookmarklet, you will gain access to a host of diverse search results.

The awesome thing about this is that it uses Google’s own algorithm. Oh the irony! The bookmarklet sports a funny and moralistic name as well; it’s called “Don’t be evil”. So remove your Google goggles and take in the world! There are voices in the tech world that suggest that if Facebook would launch a search engine, that could become a real threat for Google.

“We created a tool that uses Google’s own relevance measure—the ranking of their organic search results—to determine what social content should appear in the areas where Google+ results are currently hardcoded.”
