Time Warner Cable Boosts Download Speed By 50%. Now It’s 15Mbps!

Leading cable and internet provider Time Warner Cable (TWC) announced on August 28, 2012 that it would invest $25 million on an 1Gbps fiber network in New York city. Around 4 months later, TWC has announced that from this December, the company is boosting the maximum download speed by 50 percent through taking the speed range from 10Mbps to 15Mbps.

Time Warner Cable’s “Standard Internet” provides free Internet security and parental controls software, 10 e-mail accounts and access to TWC Wi-Fi hotspots in several U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Charlotte and Kansas City. To enhance customer satisfaction, the company has decided to boost up the maximum download speed for Standard Internet users by 50 percent. Earlier, the maximum download speed for Standard Internet was 10 Mbps, but now the company has increased the cap to 15 Mbps (maximum) nationwide. Customers of Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Western Brooklyn, Mount Vernon, as well as Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey can enjoy this enhanced download speed on all of their devices.

John Quigley, regional vice president of operations for Time Warner Cable’s New York City, said, “Standard Internet is our most popular Internet service because it’s ideal for everyday use, watching videos online, downloading apps, online banking and definitely for online holiday shopping. And now that our maximum download speed for Standard Internet is 50 percent faster, customers can have a better Internet experience on all of their devices.”

“Standard Internet customers” will receive faster speeds “automatically” when TWC will roll out to customers’ division. But if customers want to receive this enhanced download speed from now, they can upgrade immediately by pushing the “Reset” button on their modems. By chance, if there is no reset button, users will just need to unplug the power cord from the modem for 10 seconds and then plug it back in and then reboot the computer.

Besides, Time Warner Cable has more download speed ( up to 50 Mbps) for telecommuting, working with large files, or households with multiple power users. If users need more high-speed Internet service, they just need to call 1-800-TWCABLE or visit www.twc.com.
