US Internet Users Viewed 36.9 Billion Online Videos In July: comScore

Market research firm comScore has published a report that shows the growing appetite for online videos among the U.S. internet users. The report shows that a total of 36.9 billion videos were viewed by U.S. internet users in July 2012 alone. Among these, video ads accounted for 9.6 billion, around 20.7 percent of total videos viewed online. The total unique visitors viewing videos online were counted to be 184 million, around 85.5 percent of the total U.S. internet users.

The top video content provider services in terms of unique visitors were Google, Facebook, Yahoo, VEVO, Microsoft, AOL, Viacom, NDN, Amazon and Turner Digital. Among these, Google sites served the highest number of videos -18.6 billion; trailed by AOL which served 665 million videos. Users have watched 1336.8 minutes of videos on average, when the average online content video was minutes long.

U.S. viewers also watched 9.6 billion videos ads in July. Google sites also leaded in this category with 1.5 billion video ad serving. The second and third networks in this category were Hulu and Adap.tv with 1.2 billion and 1.1 billion video ad serving.

The report also revealed top YouTube partner channels by unique viewers. The top channels were VEVO, Machinima, Warner Music and on. You can see the complete list below.
