Meet The Man Who Surgically Implanted Earphones In Ear

Earphones are so small that anytime they can be lost so easily. But a 34-year-old man named Rich Lee decided to implant earphones literally in ears so that they never get lost. Surprisingly he really did that.

After reading a tutorial how to make invisible headphones using magnets and a coil necklace with an attached amplifier, Rich Lee became interested planting an earphone literally in his ears. The magnets sit on the outside of the tragus, the part of the ear that projects immediately in front of the canal. The magnets function as speakers, and the coil around Lee’s neck transmits to them.

The closer the coils move toward the implant, the louder the sound becomes. To increase the volume, Lee just presses tragus and move the implant closer to the eardrum. He believes that adding more magnets in other parts of the outer ear may enhance the effects. Have a look at the video:

On the other hand, literally the implants are undetectable to the naked eye. One can just see a tiny scar on the tragus, and Lee can easily conceal the coil necklace under his shirt so that nobody can see that either.

However, Lee is still experimenting with his new surgically implanted headphones. He said, “So far so good. I have broken several devices over the past week in an attempt to fine-tune it.”
