Street Lamps Can Transform A City Into A Living Comic Book! Don’t Believe?

Have you ever imagined that comical characters as well as pictures printed on street lamps can transform a city into a living comic book? It’s true. Street lamps in Montreal city have transformed the entire city into a living comic book.

Montreal is a city in the southwest of the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the largest city in the province, the second-largest in the country (after Toronto) and the fifteenth-largest in North America. The city is located on the Island of Montreal. However, you may not know two things about Montreal – one, it is the second largest primarily French-speaking city in the world, after Paris; and the other is Mount Royal Avenue in Montreal has a new look, thanks to comic book-inspired street lamps.

Design firm Turn Me On participated in a city-wide competition. In that competition, Estelle Jugant and Yazid Belkhir decided to create “a unique winter atmosphere and conversation on the Avenue.” As a result, they created these new street lamps and won the competition. However, the new street lamps now have been placed all over the city, having comical characters as well as pictures printed on them. Each light features original graphics from artists Astro and Jean-François Poliquin. The comic book-inspired street light installation will remain through the end of February. It is expected to pop up again over the following two winters.
