ASUS Eee PCs With Ubuntu

Asustek is preinstalling Canonical’s Ubuntu operating system for the first time in some netbooks to target the Linux market and Asus has started shipping from June 1 three Eee PC models, the 1001PXD, 1011PX and 1015PX, with Ubuntu 10.10 pre-installed. The OS has been configured to work with the processor and networking hardware on the netbooks, one of the first PC makers to ship netbooks, offering the Eee PC with multiple versions of the Linux OS including Xandros starting in 2007…………..

Intel Ultrabook

Intel has decided to use Computex 2011 as its platform of choice to introduce their latest mobile computing effort in the form of a new category of laptops known as Ultrabooks and it seems that Intel has taken quite a few pages out from Apple’s MacBook Air book with the Ultrabook, where it will comprise of a super thin form factor, using the new 22nm Ivy Bridge processors inside while keeping the price at leass than $1,000………….

Asus took the veil off its next-gen Eee PC netbook, a super-slim (17.6mm) and light (950 grams) machine called Eee PC X101 which packs a 10-inch (1024 x 600) display, a chiclet keyboard, an Atom processor and runs Windows 7 or MeeGo and starting at $199. Asus Eee PC X101 features a 10 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, processing is provided by a 1.5GHz Intel Atom Oak Trail processor and there is also Intel GMA 600 graphics………..

Advanced Micro Devices has shipped 5 million power-efficient Fusion processors

AMD ships five million Fusion chips, says it’s sold out. AMD said this week that it has shipped about 5 million of its power-efficient Fusion processors to date, as it makes inroads thanks to Intel’s fading Netbook franchise.

Apple Testing A5-Powered MacBook Air

Apple’s custom-built A5 chip currently powers iPad 2 and is expected to make its way into next-gen iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV and now A5 chip is coming to MacBook Air with Thunderbolt I/O is being tested in Apple’s labs. Apple working hard to converge the best bits of both into the forthcoming OS X Lion upgrade and may be eying ARM as a possible replacement for Intel-manufacturered x86-architecture chips in its laptop computers, but complications with running legacy applications could mean the move is several years away………

Red Flag Announces MeeGo-Based Tablet OS

Red Flag Software, others announce MeeGo-based operating systems and they’re each planning to incorporate MeeGo 1.2 into their new MeeGo-based operating systems. All four will be geared towards tablets and feature a MeeGo-based user interface and Red Flag and Linpus will also apparently support netbooks………..

MeeGo 1.2 Released

MeeGo 1.2 lands for netbooks and tablets, leaves handsets hanging on the telephone and new audio and networking stacks have also been added for A2DP streaming and HSPA+ support.By this release developers to start creating software for various device categories on Intel Atom and ARMv7 architectures and this means that over the next few months we should see MeeGo being more prominent in the smartphone market, provided developers and hardware manufacturers decide to pick up the OS and run with it…………..
