Bill Gates Funding A New Machine For Filtering Toilet Water Into Drinking Water

3/4 of the earth’s surface is filled with water. But these huge amount of water is almost undrinkable. Imagine a world, where there is no water. The water that are left in the world is only in human and animal body. I hope you understand what I mean. If you have to drink water, then you have no option except drinking your own emerged water. Anyway, that’s a nightmare. I’m sure, no has thought about it in dreams. But, guess what? Microsoft owner Bill Gates is investing his money for making a new machine for transforming toilet water into drinking water. Really?

Sarah Haigh, an expert in nanotechnology from Manchester University’s Sarah Haigh, is trying to create such a device which will not only turn toilet waste into fuel but also into drinking water. According to Sarah, those transformed waste water from toilets will be 100% safe to drink. Sarah believes that, a scaffold device holding a mixture of bacteria and tiny metal nano-particles will react with the water to extract useful hydrogen, with the remainder filtered again to produce clean water.

For making such a device, Dr Sarah Haigh has already got an initial $100,000 (£63,000) from the ‘Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’. The more exciting news is, Sarah and her team will receive more $1 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation next year if they can demonstrate the chemical reactions they propose can actually work. Sarah and her team is supposed to have a prototype ready to demonstrate to Bill Gates and Melinda Gates by 2013.

‘This technology will be particularly important for remote locations in developing countries and will have the added benefits of reduced pollution and lower waste disposal costs,’ Sarah said.

Now it all depends on human psychology. If the device(machine) is successfully made, will you drink that water which is transformed from toilet water? It’s a very interesting matter. Let’s see, what do you think about this? There’s a box right below. Don’t forget to tell us your point of view.

    Astronauts drink toilet water…

You have to figure, if reconditioned toilet water becomes the safest water available to drink, people eventually will do so.  Till then, they might prefer to just use it to wash, shower or water their garden.

Either way, its useful, and if she manages to get some hydrogen out of it, even better!
