Einstein’s Theory Remains SAFE : Neutrinos Can’t Travel Faster Than Light

Einstein might be glad and laughing after seeing this! Researchers inventions and experiments gave them a clue that, a particle ‘Neutrino’ has the ability to travel at light’s speed in a vacuum, at 180,000 miles per second. But, the Imaging Cosmic And Rare Underground Signals (ICARUS) experiment at the Italian Gran Sasso laboratory has reported that the neutrinos do not exceed the speed of light. They can travel exactly as fast as they should, and not a nanosecond more.

Last year in September, Oscillation Project with Emulsion-tRacking Apparatus (OPERA) completed an experiment and reported that, Neutrinos could travel faster than the speed of light. That news created a great concussion on the whole world, especially on those who were Einstein’s followers and were a great fan of him. Approximate 6 months later, the new experiment named the ICARUS experiment has done. It is conducted at the Italian Gran Sasso National Laboratory. Copying the same OPERA tests but with different detectors, the ICARUS team recorded a new time for the speed of neutrinos from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to Gran Sasso. They found that neutrinos travel at light speed, but not faster.

Anyway, till now Einstein’s famous ‘Theory of Relativity’ is safe. Here is the report :

“The evidence began to point towards the OPERA is a measurement artifact,” said CERN Research Director Sergio Bertolucci, “but it is important to be rigorous, and the Gran Sasso experiment, Borexino, ICARUS, OPERA and LVD they will make new measurements with pulsed beam from CERN to in May and will deliver a final verdict Additionally, cross-checks performed in Gran Sasso to compare the times of cosmic ray particles between the two. trial, opera and LVD. Whatever the outcome, the experiment has been performed opera with perfect scientific integrity at the opening of measurement for review comprehensive and independent measurements invited. This is how science works.”

“ICARUS experiment has provided an important cross check of the reports of anomalous Opera last year,” said Carlo Rubbia, Nobel Laureate and a spokesman for ICARUS experiment. “ICARUS neutrino measure speed no faster than the speed of light These are the steps to make the difficult and sensitive and stressed the importance of the scientific process .. Liquid Argon ICARUS time projection chamber detector is a novel that allows the accurate reconstruction of the neutrino interaction is proportional to the bubble chamber old with a full e-procurement system linked speed scintillation pulses provide. the exact timing of each event, and has been utilized for the measurement of neutrino flight time. technique is now recognized worldwide as the most suitable for future high-volume neutrino detectors.”
