Endeavour’s Last Journey: A Final Glimpse Inside The Space Shuttle Before Going On Display

Space Shuttle Endeavour (Orbiter Vehicle Designation: OV-105) is one of the retired orbiters of the Space Shuttle program of NASA. Endeavour was delivered by Rockwell International Space Transportation Systems Division in May 1991. It has an amazing view inside with hundreds of lights and blinking buttons. However, this space shuttle Endeavour prepares to make its last journey.

Bringing to an end the penultimate mission, Endeavour landed at Kennedy Space Center last June. After spending more than two weeks time in space, Kelly, Vittori and Endeavour’s 4 other astronauts named Gregory Johnson, Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff and Andrew Feustel returned to earth safely. Nasa’s 30-year shuttle progamme ended last July. The last mission of Endeavour lasted 16 days. The Endeavour had $2billion cosmic ray detector, an extension beam and a platform full of spare parts. It has carried 170 crew members in its 19 years of flight, spent 299 days in space, traveled 122,883,151 miles and orbits of Earth 4,671.

Endeavour and Atlantis are supposed to travel to the California Science Center in Los Angeles to go on display later this year. Workmen at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida‘s Cape Canaveral are working very hard to make the shuttle perfect. They are modifying and changing the systems and also replacing the main engines with replicas. NASA decides to leave the Earth-to-orbit business and focus on expeditions to asteroids and Mars.
