The Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos wants to prove their efficiency. By 2030, They are going to send a manned craft around the moon, build ion-powered space tugs and they’ll try to visit Mars. Roscosmos has already submitted their plan to its government. By 2020, Roscosmos is also looking to replace its current rockets ‘Soyuz’ and ‘Proton’ with a new rocket named ‘Angara.’
According to those Russian sources, Roscosmos headman Vladimir Popovkin said, “Roscosmos hopes to accomplish ‘all its goals’ with an annual budget of between 150 and 200 billion rubles ($5.1bn to $6.8bn).” Russia have been using Soyuz and Proton rockets since 1960’s till now. These two rockets were used to carry loads. To make Roscosmos’ dream come true, they are going to build a new rocket Angara. This rocket will be used to complete their missions by 2020. Angara will be a 6 seat spaceship. It will be launched from a new spaceport named Vostochny in eastern Russia.
Russian space program has been found with poor track record. Rockot, Proton, Progress 44, Soyuz 2 and more other vehicles had problems. Some of them crashed, some of them failed to place a satellite in correct order, some of them failed to achieve full mission success.
