Sony Ericsson unveiled its latest Android smartphone, dubbed Live with Walkman and with a name almost as catchy as Nokia’s failed Comes with Music offering, the new Live with Walkman smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and a 1GHz processor. Other features are a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera, Sony’s xLOUD audio and a Walkman music experience featuring integration with various social networks. If you primarily use your phone to listen to music and keep up with Facebook, the Live with Walkman may be just what you’re looking for and the Live with Walkman is slated to hit selected markets by Q4 of this year……………..

SONY Unveils The First Digital Recording Binoculars

Sony has launched the world’s first Digital Binoculars with HD video recording. Sony released two models are DEV-3 and the DEV-5 are the first binoculars that can record HD video, be it in either 2D or 3D 1920 x 1080 AVCHD. Sony offer camera-like features and are priced at $1,399 and $1,999, respectively. Each pair includes two Exmor R CMOS sensors for native 3D video capture, dual f/1.8-3.4, 0.5-10x optical zoom lenses, and a pair of 1,227-dot viewfinders. The DEV-5 will add GPS and a 10x digital zoom into the mix. There’s also Memory Stick Pro Duo and SDXC support, stereo microphones with an audio input jack, and HDMI out. Sony Sets New Price for PlayStation 3

Sony announced a worldwide price adjustment to the PlayStation 3 console and the PS3 will now be $249.99 in the US and €250 in Europe and this announcement was made at the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) event at the Gamescom 2011 conference in Cologne, Germany and under the new pricing the 160GB PS3 (Slim) will sell for $249 and while the 320GB model will be $299. When packaged with Infamous 2 and a 30-day PS Plus membership, the 320GB model will sell for $299 and after the $50 price drop the PS3 will sell for the same amount as the upcoming PS Vita portable console…………….

LG And Sony Signed A “Cross-Licensing Deal”

Sony and LG haven’t been on the best of terms lately with patent disputes serving as the major reason for conflict between the two companies and the dispute between the companies started late last year when Sony filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission, requesting it ban the sale of LG phones in the U.S. The terms of the deal have no been disclosed, but the companies have dropped the lawsuits and apparently reached a cross-licensing deal that will enable them to keep producing their respective products, the agreement expired three years ago and the companies were unable to come to terms on a new one……………….

Panasonic, Samsung, Sony And XpanD To Collaborate For Setting Up New 3D Glasses Standard

Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and XpanD finally team up for an active 3D glasses standard and CEA is playing catch up on the IR glasses problem, but many of the new HDTVs for 2011 are using Bluetooth technology to keep their glasses in sync, again without any promise of cross-manufacturer compatibility. The companies are announcing the Full HD Glasses Initiative, which should lay down a standard for consumer active shutter glasses to communicate over Bluetooth or IR and the new glasses should be backwards compatible with this year’s TVs, although early adopters from 2010 have no such guarantee……………

Sony’s PlayStation Vita Hits Amazon For Pre-order Now

Good news!! It’s been a long time coming, and the most exciting news is Sony’s PlayStation Vita finally goes up for pre-order at Amazon.com. Sony’s PlayStation Vita, previously codenamed “Next Generation Portable” (NGP), is the long-rumored successor to the PlayStation Portable hardware series. The product pages for both the WiFi-only and 3G editions list a release date of December 31, projected for a holiday 2011 release.
