CinemaNow, Best Buy’s digital entertainment service going to a new deal with Intel Corporation to get a bit larger and a good deal sharper movie library of premium high-definition content on their PCs. For the first time, CinemaNow will offer 1080p HD movies for rental and purchase on PCs packing a 2nd generation Intel Core CPU. CinemaNow has now added several hundred new releases and popular catalog titles in HD from 20th Century Fox1 and Warner Bros, in addition to the 15,000 movies and TV episodes boasts in its regular catalog. Best Buy’s CinemaNow has introduced availability of 1080p HD movies from Fox and Warner Bros. on PCs with Intel Insider technology and Intel Insider is a hardware-based security technology in second-generation Intel Core processors, which is the fastest-shipping Intel product with more than 75 million units shipped to date. Only computers that are running the new second-generation Intel Core processors on PCs with Intel insider tech will be able to view the 1080p content and everyone else will have to live with SD content on their PC. CinemaNow has a large exclusive instant access library for premium films and TV shows that needs no subscription and Intel Insider tech in the new processors allows the content to be protected enough that CinemaNow could offer the HD content……………

Windows 8 Tablet Will Run Intel Chip

Samsung Release Series 7 Laptops

Samsung announced a new laptop line, adding the Series 7 to the existing Series 3 and Series 9 lines and also the new Series 7 has a super-thin metallic chassis, incredibly bright display and a hybrid storage system designed to make a regular hard disk act like an SSD. On the inside, users can get up to a Core i7 2675QM CPU clocked at 2.20GHz, up to 8GB of RAM, Radeon HD 6750M graphics, and a 750GB HDD spinning at 7200RPM and there’s an additional 8GB of flash memory mounted on the motherboard that helps shave boot times down to mere seconds using Sammy’s FastStart technology. The 14 inch notebook has a suggested retail price of $1,099 which makes it more expensive than a netbook, MacBook Air or an entry-level ultrabook and Samsung will also offer several Series 7 laptop models with 15.6 inch, 1600 x 900 pixel displays and Intel Core i7 chips…………….

Lenovo Reports First Quarter 2011 Results

Lenovo nearly doubles net profits in Q1 earnings report and not so certain about mainstream Ultrabooks by end of year. Lenovo’s revenues jumped to $5.92 billion during the fiscal quarter, representing a 15 percent increase over last year’s figures, while net profits nearly doubled to $108 million and global PC sales nudged upward 23 percent, even at a time when most other manufacturers are seeing relatively sluggish growth. Chief Operating Officer Rory Read spoke about Lenovo’s Ultrabook strategy in response to a question from an analyst and said that they introduce over the coming quarters the ability to reach mainstream price points with Ultrabook solutions that were only 18 months ago in premium segments…………….

Apple Interested More In Lightweight Notebooks

Shipments of Apple’s just released third-generation MacBook Air from the supply chain already reached 400,000-500,000 units in June and the volume is expected to remain strong throughout July and August and with this report, may be Apple interested more in lightweight notebooks. Apple’s latest MacBook Air is set to be yet another huge success for the company and pple announced shipments of its Macs during the third quarter reached 3.95 million units, a 14% increase over last year’s numbers. Apple’s orders so far hint that total MacBook Air sales for 2011 could hit 14 million units and Apple has a vise-grip on ultraportables like it has on tablets………….
