Astronomers Discovered A Giant Black Hole That Doesn’t Swallow All In Space

It is believed that black holes in space devour everything. But that belief is about to change. Astronomers have found such a giant black hole in space at the heart of the Milky Way galaxy that doesn’t gulp everything.

Sagittarius A At The Center Of Milky Way

The new black hole is called Sagittarius A*, or Sgr A* (pronounced “Sagittarius A-star”). It is is approximately 26,000 light-years away from the Earth. However, using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, astronomers found that there were super-heated gas swirling around the black hole. At the same time, astronomers discovered that Sagittarius A* is actually quite sloppy when it comes to its culinary habits. In fact, astronomers found that this black hole devours less than 1 percent of the gas within its reach.

Interestingly, it still remains a mystery that why this black hole is different from other black holes. We hope, astromomers will find an exceptable answer very soon.
