Copenhagen Suborbitals Launching Sapphire Rocket Tomorrow, Watch Live

Tomorrow June 23 is the day when Supermoon will occur. And tomorrow on June 23, at 4:00 a.m. EST, the Denmark-based Copenhagen Suborbitals plans to launch a rocket named the Sapphire from the Baltic Sea. The company’s main purpose is to test the rocket’s active guidance system so that in future they can send a human into space.

Sapphire Launch

In 2011, Copenhagen Suborbitals launched the HEAT 1-X rocket. But despite an impressive initial lift-off, the rocket’s trajectory became worrisome and hence the team was forced to shut off the engines. Around one year later, Copenhagen Suborbitals launched another rocket, the SMARAGD-1. But the result wasn’t up to the mark. Now tomorrow on June 23, Copenhagen Suborbitals again plans to launch its third rocket till to date, the the Sapphire from the Baltic Sea.

Sapphire

For Sapphire, engineers have designed a guidance system to make rapid calculations, and consequently corrections, about the air conditions and trajectory. The guidance system will be able to determine about 200 calculations in a second. The Sapphire rocket is just over 17 feet tall and almost 500 pounds. It’s set to reach a peak altitude of around 5 miles. The Sapphire launch will take place about 15 nautical miles east of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.

Hope so, Sapphire rocket wil, be able to fulfill Copenhagen Suborbitals’ expectations. You will be able to watch the launch live Sunday morning on Copenhagen Suborbitals’ website.
