Facebook Messenger App Updated, Tells The Time When Someone Read Your Message

Facebook has introduced a number of significant changes to its Messenger app for both iOS and Android. These additions make the experience of using Facebook Messenger all the more useful. One of the most notable features that have been added to the app is that now you can know when did one of your friends read the message which you send him.

This new feature is quite useful in that it assures a user whether or not his message has been read. The best part is that these ‘read receipts’ are applied also to group conversations so that you can know that which of your friends read the messages you last sent in a conversation. Besides this, you will also be able to view where your friend sent a certain message, if that friend has location enabled.

According to the Director of Product, Peter Deng, ‘SMS has been around for 20 years, built it was for these T9 phones. We’re focused on leveraging all the capabilities of today’s devices to create a new messaging experience.’ Deng also reveals that there are plans of further revamping the apps to let the users interact as if they were talking in real.

The updates that have been introduced on these apps are, for now, exclusively available with the Messenger apps and the web interface will get them sometime later. This shows that Facebook is finally taking the mobile platform a lot more seriously so much so that it has chosen to roll out a set of new features for FB Messenger first to the mobile audience and has scheduled them later for its web interface.

Besides, with the acquisition of Instagram, Facebook will be able to further bolster its mobile profile and provide a really rewarding experience for the users of its Messenger apps.
