Google Promises Linux Users Support For Google Drive

When Google launched its online cloud storage service, Google Drive, everyone was quite overjoyed since it would be one of the easiest ways of sharing and storing files in the cloud. However, one group of people which was rather disappointed at the launch was Linux users since Google Drive didn’t come with support for Linux, at least for now.

It was surprising too since Dropbox was also offering support for Linux. And naturally, a lack of support for Linux in Google Drive would’ve ultimately led a significant faction of users to stick to Dropbox.

However, Google is known for its support for the open-source platform, something which it has proved times and again. Now, too, while Linux users were questioning the search giant restlessly as to why there was no support for Linux in Google Drive, Google Docs community manager Teresa Wu responded to the queries posted on Google+ page and stated that Google is currently working on support for Linux for Google Drive and so, Linux users ought to ‘hang tight’ for now.

We did expect that Google is going to make a statement like this some time soon. This is because, like I stated earlier, Google’s conventional support for open-source platforms. Naturally, while Dropbox is currently catering Linux users for online cloud storage, many Linux users wanted another option from Google to be on the table, just in case. And now we can hope this will be happening sometime soon.
