How Big Companies are Leveraging Artificial Intelligence

Listen To This Article:

Artifical Intelligence is everywhere. Do you ever wonder how Google suggests you search strings as soon as you type the first alphabet inside the search bar? Through AI.

AI is everywhere and everyone is spending money to leverage its benefits. In short, machine learning, artificial neural networks, artificial intelligence are different forms of AI. However, for this blog let’s focus on Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial Intelligence

There is no formal definition of AI. But as rule of thumb, think of AI as any task that if performed by a human being would be acclaimed as Intelligent. The term was first coined in 1956 at Dartmouth College during a Summer College.

At present times, Narrow AI is what we call Artifical Intelligence. However, the next level of AI is Strong AI or AGI. AGI will outperform humans at tasks that require fully developed cognitive sense.

Virtual Personal Assistant

Siri, Alexa, Cortana or Google are all digital personal assistants that use AI technology. You can use your voice and inquire for some information. And your voice will be taken as input and after processing and searching for the exact answer it will present it to you as well.

With time, AI can recognize your voice and present the data you are inquiring for according to your preference. According to Microsoft, Cortana can learn about its users and anticipate their need.

Video Games

Video Games are the first implementations of AI. In fact, the very first video games have used AI, and the present games are also using AI. But their effectiveness and reaction to unpredictable situations have improved significantly.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is a great example of AI. This game gave individual personalities to each non-player characters in the game. Similarly, Call of Duty and Far Cry lets its characters use AI to analyze their environment and accordingly take actions.

Smart Cars

Notable works on implementing AI for Smart Cars have been done by Tesla and Google. Google’s self-driving car project and Tesla’s ‘‘Autopilot’ features have leveraged the power of Artifical Intelligence. According to a Washington Post, Google has been developing algorithms that will help cars learn to drive through experience.

Purchase Predictions

Amazon has already taken up a project to anticipate customer needs. Similarly, another implementation of AI in business is the detection of fraud. In short, identical transactions go through an algorithm which differentiates between fraud and generic transactions.

Online Customer Support

At present, many websites include a chatbox for browsers. In essence, web surfers can open the chat box and expect an immediate reply to their queries. This is a basic example of Rudimentary AI. Needless to say, most of these chatbots give automated responses. But many chatbots look the website in order to present the required information.
