Apple Agrees To Settle iPad 4G Advertsing Issue In $2.25 Million Fine

When Apple released the new iPad, it has been branding the tablet as capable of supporting 4G networks around the world. However, as it turned out, this was not true for Australian 4G networks due to which iPad users in Australia lodged complains over Apple’s misleading advertisements.

Australia was probably the first country to launch a formal investigation into the claims by the users that Apple had intentionally indulged in misleading advertisement. There were reports that a number of other countries, including UK and Sweden, may also launch investigations into these claims and hold Apple responsible shall they prove true.

Now, it has been revealed that Apple has finally agreed to pay a whopping sum of $2.25 million for settlement in Australian courts. The company has long re-branded the advertisement of the tablet to gt rid of this issue, calling the formerly ‘iPad WiFi + 4G’ as ‘iPad WiFi + Cellular’ now.

However, this is not final yet and for now, this settlement remains a possibility. The lawsuit is to be settled between Apple and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. But the judge presiding the case has yet to give his final nod for the settlement to happen.
