Apple’s WWDC 2012 is nearly here and although we are merely hours away from some really important announcements from Apple, the rumors haven’t been put to rest. In fact, the speed with which the rumors are surfacing has only increased. Now, for instance, it is being reported that Apple will drop support for old iOS devices such as iPad 1 in iOS 6.

The latest rumors comes from MacRumors which in turn received it from the Chinese forum WeiPhone. According to this forum, it has a list of a number of official Apple links which, for now, are not working. However, these links do exist and may be made functional by Apple after the event culminates.

However, even when these links are not working, they do present an interesting bit of information. According to these links, Apple will probably no longer support iPad 1 in its upcoming release, iOS 6. Apple conventionally has made such moves, dropping support for older devices in its more recent firmware releases. For instance, it stopped supporting iPhone 3G in iOS 4.3x.

And so gauging from these links, it seems that iPad 1 as well as iPod Touch 3G would no longer be supported in iOS 6. Naturally, the main reason that Apple is dropping support for these devices is that their hardware is not up to the tasks which will be a part of iOS 6.  According to the forum, the devices that will  be supported by iOS 6 include iPad 2, new iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.
