Google’s Oldest Employee Susan Wojcicki Appointed As The New CEO Of YouTube

We have seen Microsoft appoint a new CEO and within days of that, YouTube has also decided to get one. The new YouTube CEO is Susan Wojcicki, one of the oldest employees at Google.

Susan Wojcicki

Until recently, YouTube was headed by Salar Kamangar. However, it is time to shuffle a few positions in the YouTube division and Kamangar will be working on other projects within the company. Wojcicki, on the other hand, will bring a fresh strategy to YouTube, prioritizing a better ads system for the video service.

Wojcicki is not only one of Google’s oldest employees but also has a significant part in the history of the company. Interestingly, when Larry Page and Sergey Brin were still in the early days of creating a search engine, Wojcicki rented out her garage to the duo.

Announcing her appointment as the new YouTube CEO, Google’s current CEO Larry Page said, “Salar and the whole YouTube team have built something amazing. YouTube is a billion person global community curating videos for every possibility. Anyone uploading their creative content can reach the whole world and even make money. Like Salar, Susan has a healthy disregard for the impossible and is excited about improving YouTube in ways that people will love.

Google has been trying to ramp up the ads revenue from YouTube and the Wojcicki’s appointment is seen by many as another step towards that. The company may soon introduce new ad formats which will bump up YouTube’s annual revenue.
