Motorola Products May Face A Ban In Germany

Motorola and Apple have been embroiled in a legal battle in Germany over the bounce-back feature in iOS. Apple defeated Samsung precisely by bringing up this same feature and now, Motorola has also lost in the patent case against Apple. This defeat may lead to Motorola products being banned in Germany.

A court in Munich issued a verdict this Thursday against Motorola. Google had been trying to convince the court that the Apple patent in the case is not valid and that Apple’s rights over a feature such as bounce-back must be revoked.

However, it didn’t turn out too good for Google and Motorola, since the court ruled against them. As a result of the decision, Motorola runs the risk of a ban on its products in Germany. Nonetheless, Google can still work around the whole issue by revising Android OS and eliminating the bounce-back feature from it.

The ban on Motorola devices can take place if Apple specifically requests for it. According to a tech consultant, if Apple submitted a bond of 25 million euros while seeking to have Motorola products removed from the German market, the devices will have to be removed from the market.

This is yet another victory for Apple in its aggressive patent war against other tech giants. It recently scored a major win against its chief rival, Samsung, when a court found Samsung to have infringed Apple’s patents and called upon Samsung to pay $1 billion in damages.
