The Amazon Kindle Fire tablet is the best-selling Android tablets around, mainly due to its low entry price and deep integration with Amazon products and services. One of the complaints some people have with Amazon’s Kindle Fire device is that it’s only 7 inch long. Rumor says soon they will be able to put their arms around a bigger Kindle Fire. According to a report, Amazon is likely to launch a 10.1 inch Kindle Fire in the third quarter of 2012.
DigiTimes reported that Amazon is likely to launch a 10.1 inch Kindle Fire tablet with a faster quad-core processor in the third quarter of this year. Amazon is serious about launching a 10.1 inch Kindle Fire device rather than launching an 8.9 inch Kindle Fire version. The 8.9 inch Kindle Fire was supposed to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note tablets (DigiTimes say), but the tablet has reportedly been suspended in production.
Amazon recently announced that it is planning to continue offering tablets at low cost in exchange for advertisements in their devices. Word on the street is that Amazon is now planning to directly take on Apple’s iPad line of tablets by presenting a 10.1 inch Kindle Fire in Q3 of this year. If the rumor is true then Amazon would want to refresh the Kindle Fire hardware for 2012 to compete with the of Apple iPad.
So far, there is no official word from Amazon on this matter. However, there is a strong chance that we would see an upgraded Kindle Fire model in the near future. So, stay tuned. Only time will tell what Amazon has in their store for us in the coming months.
