Samsung Plans Legal Assault Again The New iPad

Samsung and Apple have been locked in a legal battle over a number of patents. Samsung has filed lawsuits against Apple in Australia. These lawsuits already target the earlier generation tablets from Apple, such as iPad and iPad 2. Now it seems that Samsung may be planning to extend the assault and also include the new iPad from Apple in the lawsuit.

This speculation grew stronger when the South Korean electronics maker  called a last-minute hearing over the lawsuit it has filed against Apple. This hearing was called hours after Apple had announced it’s new iPad.

What could be the outcome Samsung may be seeking in planning a legal assault against the new iPad? Well, for one, it can seek an injunction to ban the sales of the new iPad in Australia, an injunction, if granted, can be a serious blow to Apple’s sales in region.

Samsung has been pretty efficient in launching the legal offensive against Apple devices as soon as they got launched. For instance, when iPhone 4S was launched last October, Samsung quickly filed a suit against the handset, seeking to have its sales banned in France and Italy. However, Samsung had no success in that and the international sales of iPhone 4S went forth without any hitches.

The new iPad is scheduled to be launched in ten countries, including Australia on March 16th. Samsung may plan to try and pull off an injunction against the new tablet between now and then. However, the effort seems futile given the little success the company had in barring the sales of Apple devices in the past.
