Microsoft Plans Xbox Live For Android And iOS Devices

Xbox 360 has been one of the strongest points of Microsoft. It is not only the leading gaming console but is also bringing a revolution in the gaming realm through Microsoft’s Kinect units. Microsoft has already sold a record 66 million consoles and 18 million Kinect units. Moreover, the online gaming network by Microsoft, Xbox Live is a huge success for the company. It generates Microsoft a fine revenue and it one of the most popular gaming portals. While currently it can be used only on a Windows Phone device, Microsoft may have plans to add support for Android as well as iOS devices.

Android and iOS devices of course dominate the increasingly larger mobile market. With millions of them being tooled currently, it’s only natural that Microsoft now wants to add support for them at it’s Xbox Live platform. This is quite evident from a statement from one of Microsoft officials, “While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.”

If indeed Microsoft brings it’s gaming experience to the million of Android and iOS devices, this would mean a huge fortune for it. With Xbox Live already one of the very successful products offered by Microsoft, and Kinect units fast becoming en vogue, this new update can really trigger Microsoft’s lead and may fully establish Microsoft as the leader in gaming industry.
