The US Army Testing Halo Like Helmets!

The US Army has always considered providing the best gadgets and things to its soldiers for work and their protection. Earlier we have seen helicopter pilots of the US Army getting wearable computers and an exceptional face paint that protects soldiers’ skin from bomb blasts. And now, the US Army is testing cutting edge, Halo video game like helmets.


Cutting Edge Halo-Like Helmet

The helmet is called Helmet Electronics and Display System-Upgradeable Protection (better known as HEaDS-UP). It is developed by ballistic eyewear company Revision. HEaDS-UP system is composed of a standard Army helmet with expanded features that protect the head, neck and face. The add-ons include a see-through ballistic visor and a mandible face mask that protects against 9-mm ammunition and offers better eye, face and hearing protection than existing helmets.

The HEaDS-UP helmet’s display is powered by an Android smartphone. It comes with integrated electronics and a liner system that has 14-feet-per-second impact requirements to reduce traumatic brain injuries. The most notable feature of this helmet is its inner display can show images of battlefield maps, targets, health monitors, communications and other Google Glass-type tech.
