We reported earlier that NASA and SpaceX were ready to launch the first unmanned cargo resupply flight towards International Space Station (ISS). And the time has nearly come. National space research center NASA and space transport company SpaceX is going to launch the Dragon capsule towards ISS from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at 8:35 PM EST, October 7 (that’s today).
Falcon 9 rocket will be carrying Dragon Capsule towards ISS. Dragon will be carrying about 1,000 pounds (454 kilograms) of supplies for ISS including critical materials. If everything goes well, it’ll arrive at the ISS on Wednesday, October 10. NASA officials and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has provided ‘green light’ for October 7’s launch.
Dragon capsule will spend a couple of weeks in orbit after attaching to the ISS. It will be undocked on October 28 and start heading back to Earth. Carrying around 1,400 pounds of experiment supplies and ISS hardware, Dragon Capsule will be splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California via parachute. You will get the full mission details in one of our earlier posts.
