EyeVerify has unveiled a new technology at MWC 2013 called Eyeprint that’s designed to scan a users eye veins and grant them access to a phone or application without entering any password.
The Eyeprint security app first takes a picture of the veins in the corner of users eye and starts scanning. Once users’ eyes have been scanned, the data are processed and saved. Later, anyone with eye veins having unmatched “eye-dentity” will be unable to access users’ protected documents or data.
The app requires a front-facing camera with a resolution of at least 2 megapixels to get a clear image of the eye. If users’ mobile doesn’t have a sophisticated snapper, he/she can use a rear-facing camera to scan or identify his/her eye, with spoken voice commands telling him/her if he/she needs to hold the phone closer to his/her face or where to look.
At present, EyeVerify is developing Eyeprint app. After completion, EyeVerify will sell the service to app developers or phone manufacturers who will look forward to implement the scanning system in their software or hardware.
