Well, you can always try out an Apple Peel, as pictured above. If you’ll remember, some time ago we first showed you the ZTE Peel which was essentially a 3G equipped iPod touch case that basically turned your MP3 player into a full fledged iPhone. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like things worked out exactly as planned as reviews have begun pouring in.

While the product does work as advertised, sort of, it requires a jailbreak to get any phone functionality and even after the jailbreak, there are still some clonky features. Apparently, when making calls it’s impossible to adjust call volume and beyond that, when a call is missed users are greeted with a blank message as opposed to being notified of who the actually missed.

In order to really make calls and text, users probably have to jailbreak their iPod touch and install Yision’s phone and text apps. The price will be about 300-500 Chinese Yuan and the case will come in black, white and gray colors.

If you’re gonna proverbially bear hug your iPod touch into a working cellular device, might as well get it in the trendiest color available, right? The Apple Peel 520 has now been shown off in white, a more stylish option for those wanting a case, extended battery, and freedom from the shackles of limited SIM options (at the expense of some functionality and ease of use, naturally).

Still in production with no release date, but hey, if you’re the sort who likes to live on the outer fringes of consumer electronics, keep this import in mind. No promises it’ll work with whatever Apple has up its sleeve next, though.
