Indian Tablet Maker Releases Another Ultra Cheap Tablet PC: The $50 Allgo

Tablet computers are all the rage these days, and not just in the developed world. Companies in India are racing to come up with cheaper devices that would be affordable to the general messes of the country. A prototype of a tablet was shown recently, which reportedly cost only $50 to make and has been named the Allgo.

Here’s quick demo of the unit from back in April:

What little we know of the Allgo comes from Techie Buzz, which is reporting this weekend that the tablet will sport a 7-inch, 800×480 pixel resistive touchscreen display. Like the $35, the price will fluctuate depending on how many the buyer—typically a government or educational institution—orders. The $50 starting point is for a 10,000 order. One million nets you a $40 buy-in.
