Microsoft’s flight simulator game ‘Flight’ has raised many an eyebrow when it was being released in beta. It is pretty good and seems promising. Plus, the response of the users who tried the beta has been overwhelmingly positive. While we didn’t try our hands on it, we can tell from the reviews that it is apt to bag a lot of users. The good news is, the game is all set to launch on February 29th. And the best part is, the game will be free. You will be charged, however, for the add-ons.
The response that Microsoft received from it’s beta users is well summed in this statement by the company:
“There was an overwhelming demand for access to the ‘Microsoft Flight’ beta and the number of requests was far more than what we initially planned for. We received amazing feedback from the beta participants and it’s great to see this level of excitement from fans as we move toward the release of Microsoft Flight.”
The basic game play is absolutely free and once the game is released, the game can be downloaded and played right away. However, there’s an expansion pack that comes for $20 and contains a number of add-ons for the gameplay. This is a model which has been termed ‘Freemium’ and has been increasingly common in gaming giants of late. And it has been wildly successful. Many users who once hook up to the game then go on to purchase add-ons and that’s the financial payback for the company.
