Mobile platform has become increasingly important for nearly everyone in the tech world. With billions of users hooked up to the mobile platform, it is definitely overtaking the regular computer platform to become the top priority. A recent report by ComScore now shows that Facebook users who use it on their smartphones spend lot more time on it than such Facebook users who log in from its regular version from a computer.
Facebook announced in 2011 that more than 425 million of its users were the ones who logged in to Facebook via a mobile device. This goes on to show how immensely significant the mobile platform has become for Facebook. And it is going to get even more important as the mobile population increases.
According to the report, “Social networking proved to be a particularly popular activity on smartphones with several brands demonstrating exceptionally high engagement, in some cases higher than the corresponding time spent by users via traditional Web access.”
A Facebook users from U.S. who accesses it via a smartphone spends, on average, more than seven hours on the social network daily. An American PC users, on the other hand, spends six hours on Facebook on average. This doesn’t apply merely to Facebook.
Twitter is also on the list. For instance, such Twitter users who log in from their computers tend to spend 20 minutes on average on the micro-blogging website. However, such users who log in from their smartphones to use the website are likely to spend two hours on average.
